Judgement

The object of faith, whether it is an external god or an internal god (such as the Buddha nature of Mahayana Buddhism or the Yuanling of Taoist Dandao), is usually transcendent and unknowable, while the effectiveness of faith is empirically testable, which is the basis for the establishment of the Three Greats’ judgment of religions.

In other words, the essence of faith is not true or false, but effectiveness, which is the existentialist way of judging religions.

From the perspective of value theory, the value of faith lies mainly in its construction of the moral personality of believers and the construction of the meaning of their life.

On this rational and empirical basis, we can test the social value of one faith relative to another. Whether it is polytheism, monotheism, or atheism, they can be compared with each other. There are both the value level of constructing the meaning of personal survival and the social value level that can be compared.
